A note from our Director and founder, Ben Melham:

“Mortice was founded in 2017 with a clear purpose: to strengthen operational delivery across the cultural sector. After many years working within museums and heritage organisations, I saw a consistent pattern—institutions with unique missions and identities were grappling with similar challenges, often in isolation.

Mortice was created to change that. Our aim has always been to connect people, ideas, and expertise—drawing on best practice not just from within the cultural sector, but also from the contractors, suppliers, and industries that support it. We exist to help cultural organisations make their operations more strategic, sustainable, and effective.

Since our founding, the Mortice team has grown in both experience and scope. We’ve worked with a wide range of clients—national and international—supporting them through operational planning, procurement, training, and advisory work.

Sustainability is increasingly central to that work. As the sector responds to the realities of climate change, shifting regulations, and evolving expectations, we are committed to embedding sustainable thinking across all aspects of our practice and the guidance we provide.

If you’d like to find out more about our work—or explore how we might collaborate—we would be happy to make time to talk.”
