Europe Second Wave Museum Tracker November 2020

Europe Second Wave Museum Tracker, November 2020

During the first wave of COVID-19, we started tracking when and how museums around the world  were reopening as they came outof lockdown. We have decided to start tracking how museums are responding during the second wave in order to help measure and forecast the impact of the lockdown on the sector.

There is a considerable variety in how European countries are responding to the second wave, with some countries protecting their museums from closing. English museums have been the last of the British countries out of the three who have shut their doors. Scottish museums meanwhile remain open. The majority of European countries whose museums are shut, decided to do so last week at the same stage as England. Some countries such as Italy, Germany and England have forecasted a four week closure while other countries have withhold any expected dates of when their museums may reopen.
